30 weeks

How far along: 30 weeks

Baby's size: baby is about 15.7 inches long and weighs almost three pounds (like a head of cabbage)

What baby is up to (according to Babycenter.com):
A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision – which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

Symptoms: high blood pressure, some swelling in my hands and feet

This week at my doctor's visit my blood pressure was high which had the doctor concerned.  It was also the day I took the glucose screening.  When they checked my blood pressure at the end of the hour wait, it was still high so the doctor asked me to come back in 2 days and limited me to only getting up to eat and use the restroom.  I went back and my blood pressure had come down some but was still elevated.  They are watching it closely and hopefully when I go back in a week it will be back to normal.

Total Weight Gain: 22 pounds

Best moment since last update: the nursery is ready!

We finally found out Derek's blood type, but not without many hurdles to jump!  He originally decided to give blood at work to find out his blood type.  For whatever reasons, he was unable to dontate blood that day but was told with the blood they were able to collect for testing purposes that they would send him his blood type when he received his card from the Red Cross.  We waited the six weeks and when we received his card, the blood type was not listed.  He called in to find out what it was and he was told they did not test his blood.  So on to Plan B.  He made an appointment at our doctor's office.  The first appointment was cancelled due to doctor illness.  The second appointment fell through because when Derek scheduled it, he scheduled it for a wednesday evening so he wouldn't miss work and when we arrived he was told his appointment was on Thursday evening - that did not work for us.  So on to Plan C.  We decided we would try to get his blood tested at the OB office since they have a Lab there. I called to make sure he could do this at our next appointment.  I was told to just let the nurse know and they would send him over.  When we got to the back, the nurse said the lab was closed.  So on to Plan D.  She told us we could go to any Lab in the area and they would send the results to the OB.  She filled out form and told us we could go across the street to the Lab that they were still open.  Derek went over after our appointment and there was a considerable wait so he decided to go to the Lab by his work.  He successfully had his blood tested at the Lab by his work, so at my next appointment I asked the nurse if she could tell me Derek's blood type.  She looked into the computer and the information was not listed.  She told me she would have someone look into it.  So after our appointment with the doctor, I needed to wait for my glucose screening.  The nurse needed to recheck my blood pressure so I asked if they found out Derek's blood type.  She said they did and it was A+ and I would need to get the shot at my next appointment.  So finally we know and I got the shot and we are prepared for delivery.  Hopefully finding out the baby's blood type will be much easier :)

Movement: yep! Derek stated one night, "This is wild! I can feel body parts." When he felt the baby move before he felt kicks which were quick and this night the baby was moving around a lot - I think space is becoming limited in there.

Food cravings: fruit

What I miss: getting up from sitting or laying down easily

What I'm looking forward to: having baby in the nursery
